Karla Friede is Chief Executive Officer, co-founder, and member of the Board of Directors at Nvoicepay. She has 20 years of experience in management, finance, and marketing roles in both large and early stage companies. Along with the founding team, Karla has grown Nvoicepay into the leading B2B Payment Automation Software company. Prior to founding Nvoicepay, she was President and CEO of privately held Zevez Corporation; VP of Marketing for GeoTrust (acquired by Verisign in 2006); Co-founder of The Ascent Group, a strategy consulting firm serving technology firms in the bay area; Director of Marketing at Mentor Graphics, and part of the PBAS team at KPMG.
Karla received an MBA from Harvard Graduate School of Business and a BS in Accounting from University of Idaho.
Shaun McAravey is Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of Nvoicepay. He has more than 20 years of experience helping organizations make appropriate technology choices by carefully evaluating emerging technologies, and selecting technologies that provide significant technical benefits. Prior to Nvoicepay Shaun was President and CTO of SoftSource Consulting and Chief Technology Officer of STEP Technology. He is also a frequent and entertaining speaker at technical conferences.
Shaun has presented at the Microsoft Global Executive Roundtable, Microsoft Global Summit, Microsoft Technical Briefings, SD West and other national developer conferences.
Tana Law is Senior Vice President of Sales and co-founder of Nvoicepay. She has more than 20 years of experience in the payments industry. Prior to Nvoicepay, Tana was VP Sales at Zevez and spent 18 years in various roles at Discover Card Services including Regional Director, Senior National Accounts Manager, Business Development Manager, Director of Support Services, District Manager, and Account Executive. On behalf of Discover Card, she established contractual policies and procedures for the then emerging industry of “transaction aggregators.”
As a Regional Director, Tana managed more than 100 Account Executives in seven states and set many of the sales performance policies and metrics still in place at Discover.
Kim Kelley is the Vice President of Operations of Nvoicepay. She has over 20 years of leadership experience in support and services operations. Before Nvoicepay, Kim has held a variety of management roles in Mentor Graphics including Director of Marketing for Customer Services, Director of Operations, Program Manager, and Business Intelligence Manager, and Director of Services at First Insight. During her career, she has designed and deployed self-service strategy, initiated global support operations across multiple cultures and time zones, and completed mergers and acquisitions integrations.
Kim received an MBA from the University of Oregon’s Charles H. Lundquist College of Business and a BS from Oregon Institute of Technology.
Garen Staglin is the Chairman of the Board of Directors at Nvoicepay. Staglin has more than 35 years of experience in financial services and payment technologies, spanning emerging companies to large-scale enterprises in various senior leadership positions. Currently, he is Chairman at EXL Services, a Director of Silicon Valley Bank, Vice Chairman at Profit Velocity Solutions, Senior Advisor at FTV Capital, and Proprietor at Staglin Family Vineyard in Rutherford, California.
Previously, Garen has a held a number of management and Board positions including CEO at eONE Global LP, Director at First Data Corporation, Director and investor at Solera, Inc., Director at Bottomline Technologies, CEO and Chairman at Safelite Auto Glass, and Group President at ADP, Director and Investor at Quick Response Services, Director and Investor at CyberCash, Inc. and Board of Directors at QRS Corporation.
He is a leading advocate for brain health research serving as Co-Chairman of the One Mind Campaign, President and Founder of the International Mental Health Research Organization, and Founder of Bring Change 2 Mind. He also serves as the Co-Chairman of the Centennial Campaign for UCLA. He has also served as a member of the Advisory Board of the Stanford Graduate School of Business, and the Cambridge University Business School in the United Kingdom.
Garen holds a BS in engineering from University of California, Los Angeles and an MBA from The Graduate School of Business at Stanford.
David Chen is a member of the Board of Directors of Nvoicepay. On the Equilibrium platform, he is a board member of GED, Inc. (Gerding Edlen) and Biological Capital, LLC. David is currently the CEO of the Equilibrium Capital Group, an asset management platform of sustainability driven real assets funds. Previously, he has served as the Chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco’s Portland Branch, a GP at OVP Venture Partners; Founder and CEO GeoTrust, Vice President Marketing Mentor Graphics, an associate at McKinsey & Company, and early team member at Solectron. David is currently board members of B Corp/B Lab and The Freshwater Trust. He is also a faculty member at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and Stanford GSB and teaches on the topic of sustainability and finance, David is the co-owner of Patton Valley Vineyards, a sustainably farmed maker of Oregon Pinot Noir.
David has a BA in biology from the University of California, Berkeley and an MM from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Miles Kilburn is a member of the Board of Directors of Nvoicepay. He is the founder of Mosaik Partners, LLC, a venture capital firm focused on emerging opportunities at the intersection of commerce and technology. Miles is the Chairman of the Board at Global Cash Access, Inc. (NYSE: GCA), and at Clearent, LLC. Kilburn is also a Director at Aliaswire, Inc., Andera, Inc, Government Payment Service, Inc., and Access Information Holdings, LLC. Previously he was a Director and Investor with Works, Inc. (sold to Bank of America in 2006) and Med-i-Bank, Inc. (sold to Metavante in 2006). He previously served as Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Concord EFS, Inc. (NYSE: CE), a payment and network services company (which was acquired by First Data Corporation in February 2004 in a $7.2 billion transaction). He also served as Chief Executive Officer of Primary Payment Systems, Inc. (now Early Warning), and Group Executive Vice President, CFO and General Counsel of Star Systems, Inc. Miles began his career as an attorney with Skaddan Arps focusing on securities law and mergers and acquisitions.
Miles has a BA in business administration from the University of Washington and a JD from Northwestern University School of Law.
Carol Coye Benson is a member of the Advisory Board of Nvoicepay. She is a founding partner of Glenbrook Partners, a unique payments consulting and research firm. In addition to being a consultant, Carol is the partner in charge of Glenbrook’s Payment Boot Camp program. Before founding Glenbrook Partners, Carol was the Managing Director of the Global Institutional Services division of Deutsche Bank. She has proven track record of success in the payments industry with senior level experience at Visa International (Senior Vice President), Citibank (Vice President: Global Relationship Manager, Corporate Lending Officer, Product Development, Global Cash Management, & Corporate Lending), and Bank of America (Assistant Vice President). She also sits on the Advisory Board of the Institute for Money, Technology and Financial Inclusion (IMTFI) of the University of California, Irvine and on the Editorial Board of the TSYS n>genuity Journal focusing on global payments innovation.
Carol has a BA in Psychology from Bryn Mawr College and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from Columbia University. She is also the co-inventor of two U.S. patents.
Doug Fieldhouse is a member of the Advisory Board of Nvoicepay. He was a founding investor in Vesta Corporation, a leader of electronic payment solutions in the telecommunications industry. Doug has been with Vesta for 16+ years and now serves as the President and CEO of the company. Prior to Vesta, hespent over 15 years building and leading businesses across the world. Specifically, he has worked with a number of Fortune 500 companies and top international financial firms. During his time at Vesta, Doug has been recognized for outstanding achievement in entrepreneurship, leadership, and innovation. In 2009, he was named Ernst & Young’s Pacific Northwest Entrepreneur of the Year and received the 2008 Entrepreneurship Award for Individual Achievement from the Oregon Entrepreneurs Network. Doug is an active angel investor.
Doug holds a BA in International Relations from Antioch College as well as two U.S. patents.
Edith Dorsen is a member of the Advisory Board of Nvoicepay . She serves as a Co-Founder and Managing Director at Women’s Venture Capital Fund. Edith led business development for the Children’s Television Workshop, where she helped in the revitalization of the 25-year-old Sesame Street brand and launch the joint venture with Nickelodeon for the first 24-hour educational channel, “Noggin”. At Physicians’ Online, she identified and negotiated strategic alliances and joint ventures. Earlier, she worked as an Investment Banker for Salomon Brothers, where she focused on sell side mergers and acquisitions and equities – divestiture programs of large corporations, negotiated sales of privately held and publicly traded companies, initial public offerings, and other public equity transactions. She began her career with McKinsey & Company, where she advised Fortune 500 companies on market trends, competitiveness and organizational effectiveness.
Edith holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School and M.P.A. from the Kennedy School of Government. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School and a B.A. in Political Science.
Lisa Greenough is the Vice President of People and Culture. Her more than 25 years of leadership experience has been focused on human resources and management in the hospitality, technology and training industries. She received MS in Management Communication (Human Resources) and a BS in Communication Management from University of Portland. During her career, Lisa has held positions with Leisure Sports Hospitality, Kinetic Technology Solutions, Hewlett-Packard and SEH America. Her roles across companies have included Director of Human Resources, Engagement and Retention Specialist, Vice President of Training and Operations and Employee Relations and Communication Specialist.
Byron Biggins is the Director of Business Development for Nvoicepay. He has over 15 years of business development and sales experience. Prior to Nvoicepay, he was Director of Business Development at Recurly; Head of Partnerships at Kissmetrics; Sr Director of Alliances at ForeSee; VP of Partnerships at TagMan; and Senior Director of Business Development at Digital Element.
Byron received an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at USC and a BS in Management Science from UC San Diego.
Steve Piaker is a member of the Board of Directors of Nvoicepay. Steve has over 25 years of experience in financial services and financial technology and is currently a Managing Director and co-head of Napier Park’s Financial Partners, a private equity firm focused on growth capital investments in financial services. In addition to Financial Partners, Steve is also a Founding Partner and a member of the Management Committee of Napier Park Global Capital. He is currently a board member of Bill.com, Jefferson National, and TIO Networks (TSX-V: TNC). Previously he was a Managing Partner of CCP Equity Partners and served on numerous boards including Paycycle (sold to Intuit), Princeton eCom (sold to Online Resources), Magnet Communications (sold to Digital Insight), Telebanc (IPO’d and sold to E*Trade), Sterling Autobody (sold to Allstate), Intersections (NASDAQ: INTX), Clark Inc. (IPO’d and sold to Aegon) and Finetre (sold to EBIX). Prior to CCP Steve was a Senior Vice President of Conseco Inc., where he helped to form Conseco's private equity funds. Prior to Conseco, Steve was a founding member of the Financial Institutions Group within GE Capital’s leveraged buyout division. He began his career with Chase Manhattan Corp.
Steve has a BA in economics from the University of Rochester and an MBA from Duke University's Fuqua School of Business, and is a CFA charterholder.
